Introduction to Robin Sylvester-Bradley
My wife and I are homestay teachers in Dorset with over 20 years of teaching experience gained in language schools. I am Celta and Delta qualified. I have taught all levels and ages. My wife Ivana has particular interest and experience teaching children and is currently a trainee play therapist. All lessons are geared towards improving fluency and pronunciation.
As well as being a homestay teacher I’ve welcomed more than 300 students just as a host family. I can cook to different culinary requirements, particularly those on a gluten free diet.
Last year my wife, daughter Tara 8 and son Matteo 7 left rural North Devon to move closer to family on the edge of Poole on the South coast of England.
Apart from helping raise my young family I love gardening in particular growing our own vegetables. I’m an armchair sports fan and love country walks and sea swimming.
Accommodation
Our home is spacious and our guests have a double room with private bathroom if requested. We can add single beds if necessary. The garden is very large with flower beds, lawns and vegetable plot. There is also a Shepherd’s hut and a hot tub.
Location
Our home is in the quiet suburb of Upton which is a ten minute drive from the Poole/Bournemouth conurbation. We are on the edge of Poole harbour, Europe’s largest natural harbour, home to Ospreys amongst many other bird species. We are 30 minutes from the World famous Jurassic coast including Durdle door and also 30 minutes to the National park of The New Forest. The sandy beaches of Bournemouth and Poole are a short hop away with more secluded beaches to be found in the nearby Purbecks.
If you prefer shopping, Poole’s Dolphin centre is a local bus ride away. We have direct train and bus links to London (approximately 2hours)and its airports. The nearest airport Bournemouth (BOH) is 13 miles away.
