English immersion homestays
I have often been asked to define what the term ‘immersion’ means,within the context of English language learning.
“Total” immersion homestays entail a student being educated in every subject of the curriculum in the English language. This involves a attending a mainstream English school as well as living in an English family, with your teacher.
At Homestay English UK ,as our students are usually only with us for a number of weeks, although sometimes we do offer this option. However, we generally offer shorter immersion English homestays in the teacher’s home and family.
Our homestay immersion program
In our program, immersion is achieved by living with an English family and being completely isolated from your own language and culture.
The goal is to become functionally proficient in English,to master content taught in structured lessons and to acquire an understanding of and appreciation for the English culture. This type of program has been proved to be one of the most efficacious ways of learning, not just English, but any language.
Language is acquired most effectively when it is learned in a meaningful social context. When living in an English host family you will have no choice but to interact in the English language via family conversation, radio, TV and other mediums. You will be immersed into the culture and language.
Our homestay immersion excursions
Our English immersion homestays ,also consist of weekly excursions to places of historical and cultural interest.Also included are a variety of activities. Experiencing a typically English family way of life will enhance your confidence in speaking and will improve your listening capability.
All our courses are unique and the focus is uniquely on the individual student as opposed to having to share a teacher with a class. All aspects of family life are shared with the student.This is the most natural and comfortable environment in which to immerse yourself into English.
