Homestay teachers in South West

My name is Marie Probert and I have been an English language home tutor for almost 20 years. I am now semi retired. I have taught English in schools, at home on a private basis and as voluntary work in the Far East. I am now concentrating on liaising between students and teacher to ensure that teacher and students are suitably matched.

Selecting the best English homestay tutors

I have a good understanding of what students are looking for, having had experience across many cultures. I have personally interviewed and verified every English language teacher listed on my website. I have visited and inspected all the accommodation offered. All teachers on my site are highly qualified and experienced in one-to-one home tuition and in homestay hosting. To work with Homestay English teaching, all teachers must meet a strict criteria. The same applies for the accommodation.

About me

Since obtaining my TEFL certificate, I have had a couple of students on an individual face-to-face basis; tailoring sessions to their particular needs and requirements, either twice-weekly or once-weekly, during 18 months and 6 months respectively.

I live alone, my 2 grown-up children having left home a few years ago (but only after I had first left home to go on a 2-year cycle ride round the world). Unsurprisingly, then, I list cycling and travel amongst my interests and hobbies; and I host touring cyclists through a website (warmshowers.org). I am also actively involved in my local church (particularly as a lay minister and playing sax in the worship group); am a volunteer worker in our village shop; and enjoy gardening, walking, reading, making jams and damson gin.

I live in a village to the north of Bristol, near to motorways and train stations. The nearest airport is Bristol – about 20 miles (40 minutes by car) away.

I live with my family in the beautiful city of Winchester.  Winchester is a perfect place to experience a taste of England. There are many historical attractions such as Winchester Cathedral, Winchester College and the Great Hall which houses the legendary Round Table.  There are plenty of cafes and parks to study in and also a contemporary library.

Winchester is a very safe, small and friendly city which we love.  Our home is about a 20 minute walk from the centre or a short bus ride away.  You can get to London in under an hour by train. We are also a short journey away from Stonehenge, Portsmouth, the New Forest and the coast.  Jane Austen’s house is also close by.

We often host foreign students and enjoy sharing our home.  My background is in marketing, events management and in corporate development for the charity sector.  I am Celta qualified and have over three years experience in one-to-one and small group teaching.  I am an easy person to get on with and enjoy teaching in a creative and interesting way.  I enjoy seeing my students progress in the English language.   We have a twin and single room available with a private bathroom.  Southampton Airport is only a few minutes away and Bournemouth Airport is about 45 minutes by car.

Accommodation : Double / twin room
Private bathroom
Family: Lives alone
Pets: None
Interests : Music, listening and playing, meeting friends, reading, theatre, cinema, exhibitions, gardening, swimming, walking, seeing sights
General English

About me

I am a friendly, cheerful TEFL teacher, who can offer English at various levels and enjoys teaching. Due to the fact that I am Dutch, I do understand the difficulties a student might experience in learning a foreign language. I live in Gorran Haven, a charming, little village on the coast of mid-south Cornwall. The village is quiet, though in summer holidays the little harbour and beach can be crowded with young families.Cornwall is valued for its natural scenery and beauty, picturesque villages, peaceful quality of life and the friendliness of the Cornish people.
My home, a detached bungalow with a nice garden and sea views, is situated near the beach and the coastal footpath. Places nearby are Mevagissey, a working fishing village, and Fowey, a picturesque village on the river Fowey. The author Daphne du Maurier lived and wrote her novels here.
The Lost Gardens of Heligan are four miles away, the Eden Project is a trip of about 15-miles. Truro, St Ives, Port Isaac, St Michael’s Mount, the Minnack theatre and Land’s End are further afield. A student can be accommodated in a comfy bed-sit plus study corner upstairs, with private bathroom downstairs. Alternatively, (s)he might prefer the double room downstairs with separate private bathroom, and study in the conservatory downstairs.

English Home Tuition in Bournmouth

Jasmina Vodevic : Homestay tutor in Bournemouth

Location :  Bournemouth seaside town
Accommodation : Single room
 Shared bathroom
Family at home : Son 9 years
Pets: Cat
Interests : Yoga, gardening, music, movies, Internet, computing, travelling
General English

About me

My name is Jasmina and I live in a four-bedroom house in Bournemouth with my nine year old son.

I am a CELTA qualified teacher and enjoy to host and teach foreign students from all around the world.  I arrived to the UK seven years ago from Berlin, Germany as I was offered a new job in Bournemouth. Ever since I have done various jobs mainly as digital marketing professional and have totally integrated into my life in Bournemouth.

I enjoy hosting and teaching as much as I love to cook for my family and my guests. I know exactly how the students feel when they arrive and how difficult it is to suddenly use English language at all times. My understanding helped much with creating trust and bond with all the students who were my guests.

I have learned in last years so many facts about different cultures, standards and customs, likes and dislikes. In return I try to pass on my students the information of English way of life and my very good knowledge of Bournemouth and love for discovering new places, lovely countryside and picturesque villages.

My family and I are very lucky to live in one of the most popular seaside resorts in the UK. With its famous seven-miles golden sand beach, its glorious seemingly endless gardens and parks, plenty nice restaurants and cafes and numerous festivals, Bournemouth is a fantastic place to be in summer. It takes only two hours to get to London from here. A day or a weekend trip to one of the best cities in the world, just for shopping or to see one of the West End shows is always an option.                                                                                                    I would love to welcome you into our home, show you around Dorset and help you with your English.

Our students' experiences

MARCH 2017

I appreciated my 2 weeks with Denise. Her education is flexible. She adapts lessons throughout your course, according to your weaknesses and your objectives. Denise is very pleasant and spent a lot of time to talk about everything as you do it with your friends. And it’s the best time to test what you learnt.

JULY 2017

It has been an amazing experience. We have visited many nice places. Sevenoaks and it's parks are incredible. Our hosts are lovely and we are extremely grateful to this family for helping all the time.

Leyla is fantastic. She taught me a lot of things not only language. I want to come back again.
