Hi, my name is Iwona. I live in Poole, Dorset with my husband Martin and two children: Olivia who is 9 and Thomas who is 13. We also have a dog called Poppy.

I have been home teaching for over 15 years and have a lot of experience in teaching various levels of students from beginners to advanced. All my lessons cover the four important skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. I will focus on your needs and help you improve in the time you are staying with us.

We are a very active family; we enjoy long walks on the beach or in the local area. Dorset is full of amazing walks and places to explore.

Our main hobby is sailing, and we spend a lot of time in our local sailing club either sailing, swimming or socialising.

We also love cycling and often go for long cycle rides in the forest. Other interests include reading, listening to music, going to the cinema, playing board games or watching movies.

We live in a comfortable five-bedroom house with a small garden. We have two rooms available. Both rooms are single, however one of them can be changed into a twin. We offer the use of a private bathroom with an electric shower.

Our house is located between Bournemouth and Poole. Bournemouth is a buzzing seaside resort with 7 miles of golden beaches. Poole is a coastal town with a large natural harbour. It is full of history and it is very beautiful.

Accommodation : Single room / Double room
 Shared bathroom
Family : Lives alone
Pets: None
Interests : Lay minister in my local church, play sax ,cycle touring, volunteering, walking, gardening,British Sign Language, puzzle page in the newspaper
General English

About me

Since obtaining my TEFL certificate, I have had a couple of students on an individual face-to-face basis; tailoring sessions to their particular needs and requirements, either twice-weekly or once-weekly, during 18 months and 6 months respectively.

I live alone, my 2 grown-up children having left home a few years ago (but only after I had first left home to go on a 2-year cycle ride round the world). Unsurprisingly, then, I list cycling and travel amongst my interests and hobbies; and I host touring cyclists through a website (warmshowers.org). I am also actively involved in my local church (particularly as a lay minister and playing sax in the worship group); am a volunteer worker in our village shop; and enjoy gardening, walking, reading, making jams and damson gin.

I live in a village to the north of Bristol, near to motorways and train stations. The nearest airport is Bristol – about 20 miles (40 minutes by car) away.

Mary Vasquez - English Home Tuition in Devon

Accommodation : Double room / Twin
Private bathroom
Family : Lives alone
Pets: None
Interests : Walking including nordic, live concerts, theatre, travelling, gardening and eating out.
General English, Aviation English, Business English

About me

Mary has been teaching English and welcoming international students into her home for 19 years. She enjoys socialising and introducing her students to the cultural delights of Devon and the British way of life. Activities that you can do with Mary include visiting the theatre, live concerts, walking, sightseeing in the local area, golf and visiting the beautiful gardens and houses that Devon and Cornwall have to offer.

Mary can help you learn more about how the English really speak, including idiomatic and colloquial language. She has a wide variety of course-books for different levels and can work with you to identify your areas of linguistic difficulties and create a teaching programme that will help you both develop your speaking skills and increase your linguistic confidence.

Accommodation

Mary lives in a wonderful home which is located on a hillside with fantastic views over the popular tourist town of Teignmouth in South Devon. As a guest of Mary, you will enjoy a private airy student bedroom on the ground floor. Her home has beautifully manicured gardens and there are beautiful views from most of the outside areas including the amazing view of the river from the balcony where you can eat breakfast on a sunny day.

There is a possibility of having the use of a private bathroom (but this may incur an extra cost)

Teignmouth is a town situated on the bank of the estuary of the River Teign about 14 miles south of Exeter. In 1690, it was the last place in England to be invaded by a foreign power. The town grew from a fishing port to a fashionable resort in Georgian times and today the town remains a popular seaside holiday location. It is an ideal area for walking as Teignmouth is on the South West Coast Path. In March, the Classical Music Festival and the Poetry Festival host events, recitals and workshops around the town.

The Folk Festival in June, is one of the top festivals in the UK . This is a three day event where the atmosphere of the town is electric and lively.

During the summer, there are carnivals and regattas in Teignmouth and the neighbouring town of Shaldon.

The beaches are wonderful and the town beach is a long expanse of sand with a pier, arcades and a promenade. Local watersports are very popular and there are lots of opportunities to try kayaking, paddle-boarding as well as swimming.

Pets: None
Interests : Music, listening and playing, meeting friends, reading, theatre, cinema, exhibitions, gardening, swimming, walking, seeing sights
General English

About me

I am a friendly, cheerful TEFL teacher, who can offer English at various levels and enjoys teaching. Due to the fact that I am Dutch, I do understand the difficulties a student might experience in learning a foreign language. I live in Gorran Haven, a charming, little village on the coast of mid-south Cornwall. The village is quiet, though in summer holidays the little harbour and beach can be crowded with young families.Cornwall is valued for its natural scenery and beauty, picturesque villages, peaceful quality of life and the friendliness of the Cornish people.
My home, a detached bungalow with a nice garden and sea views, is situated near the beach and the coastal footpath. Places nearby are Mevagissey, a working fishing village, and Fowey, a picturesque village on the river Fowey. The author Daphne du Maurier lived and wrote her novels here.
The Lost Gardens of Heligan are four miles away, the Eden Project is a trip of about 15-miles. Truro, St Ives, Port Isaac, St Michael’s Mount, the Minnack theatre and Land’s End are further afield. A student can be accommodated in a comfy bed-sit plus study corner upstairs, with private bathroom downstairs. Alternatively, (s)he might prefer the double room downstairs with separate private bathroom, and study in the conservatory downstairs.
